COVE is dedicated to serving clients in the Alaskan wilderness who desire to maintain the wilderness aspects of their remote home.
Cove Alaska, LLC’s intent is to create well paying full time jobs out of Seldovia. For Seldovians who are dedicated to their sense of place, every job counts.
The goal is to bring outside money into our community by value adding local resources into building structures, from the tree to the final product, using Seldovia’s port to ship anywhere outside of our community to remote locations.
Our experience for backcountry building evolved from living closely tied with Alaskan Wilderness spaces and village life, teaching us the value of pristine properties with well fitted quality homestead cabins.
As builders we believe value adding resources support our own economies. For us that means felling the timber through installing the finished product. Because of our limited supply of timber, we also source wood from the nearest local harvester and miller. For us it is BST Milling out of Anchor Point.
Future goals are having our own blacksmith, foundry and machining capabilities to make all of our own hardware and accessories.
Building in the backcountry is hard on everything and everybody. There are always environmental pressures that can have severe consequences. Regular travel to and from a remote site can be costly, dangerous, and occasionally life threatening.
Our style has evolved working in this environment for over 30 years. Creating a construction style aimed to reduce risk and increase production by reducing onsite time through rapid assemblies, minimizing remote travel by creating a shop based prefabrication style that is close to home.
Shipping of premade packages is by boat, plane, helicopter and coolies. We strive for high levels of function, form, beauty and longevity.
Each piece becomes a piece of beauty that fits within the landscape. We evolve as builders at every step. Always aiming to do better than we did before.
